Queen Amidala Inspired by shesgonepostal Queen Amidala Inspired by shesgonepostal
My lovely friend ~hellovanity is a Star Wars fan, and wanted a Queen Padre Amidala inspired dress design inspired by her costumes. I searched through her many outfits, gowns and battle outfits - and went for a more girly look. Hey, it caught my eye. Try and guess which one I was inspired by. ;)

Wearing: White dress with embroidered details and light rose ruffled sleeves. White fasinator-headband + jeweled fan (to represent the collar on the actual gown) and white pointed toe flats

Hope you like it!! This is the first time I did anything transparent (the sleeves) so hopefully it looks good, I'm quite pleased with it.

medium used: coloured pencils and psp8.

This kind of looks like a nightie, a geisha babydoll design, especially with those legs. I recognized those sleeves immediately though, perhaps they could come off.

After I drew it I thought it had a geisha look to it too. I wonder if the original costume was inspired by japanese culture?

Do you think it's too much of a reference to the actual gown? I tried to make it different. The original actually didn't have sleeves, it was a cape from what I can remember.

Well, it's just the sleeve and that thing down the front. I think the fact Amidala is so well known to have geisha make-up is also a factor (yeah, they referenced japanese, chinese, and mongolian culture in designing Amidala's big stuff)

Yeah I think I might re-design this one then, it was my first "out of my comfort zone" illustration so I think I could probably do a better, more original job. Thanks for the input!

Ohh neat, I thought so.
